This guide is based on the process for the province of British Columbia. Other provinces will have their own different programs.

STEP 1 Get Free Advice and Help

FREE “PROCESS” CONCIERGE

Start by creating an account at HealthMatchBC — this is a free service funded by the provincial health ministry, whose whole job is to help healthcare workers like you come to Canada!

Someone will get back to you, and be your guide through the whole process: Credentials, jobs, immigration, citizenship, etc.

🥼 Doctors: Also contact the Nanaimo Divisions of Family Practice ([email protected] or call 1-250-591-1200). They can work alongside HealthMatchBC to walk you through the process, book clinic site visits, and receive support to relocate.

JOIN OUR FREE DISCORD

We have recruiters, immigration consultant, ex-pats, and local community members ready to help you! They have orange usernames.

**CLICK HERE TO JOIN** (use the 📦-move-to-canada ****channel)

We have people in there ready to answer your questions! As Mr. Rogers once said: “Look for the helpers.” Our helpers have orange usernames.

STEP 2 Get a Job Offer

Next, find a job here on Vancouver Island (I mean, anywhere in BC or Canada, but the Island really is an amazing place to work and live.)

Island Health is the publicly funded health authority on the Island that operates hospitals, health units, mental health and addictions care, residential facilities, and more. This is where the bulk of the jobs are.
