A Discord server is like a group chat, but more organized.

When you join our Discord, you’re just joining a group of people who chat together.

There are different “channels” (some for hobbies, some for professions, some for Vancouver Island towns, etc.)

Once inside, you can read posts and reply if you like. It’s a bit like joining a Facebook group, but with live conversations and no ads. Everything happens inside the app, and you can pop in or out whenever you want.

Keep your contributions factual, friendly, fair, fresh, and free:

  1. Factual: Share information that is supported by credible sources.
  2. Friendly: Inclusive, supportive, understanding and avoid unnecessary argument.
  3. Fair: When sharing opinions, aim for balance and avoid passing judgement on local communities, services or infrastructure. This isn’t Tourism Vancouver Island, but it’s also not Google Reviews.
  4. Fresh: Try to keep your comments on topic and relevant to the discussion or channel.
  5. Free: We don’t allow fundraisers or requests for money on this Discord.

Not adhering to these guidelines will get you removed from the server.

How to get in:

When you first get to the Discord, there will be an application form.

Make sure you tell us your occupation (tech worker, healthcare, manager, truck driver, etc) so we can put you in the right group.

Once you’ve been accepted, you must post an introduction of yourself (location, job, etc.) in the #introductions channel within 24 hours, or the server will remove you automatically and not permit you to come back.
