1. Emissions falling: Canada’s annual greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions are projected at 467 Mt CO₂e for 2023-24, representing about a 36 % reduction below 2005 levels.
  2. Vehicle emissions down: Lighter-duty vehicle GHG emissions are down around 28 % in 2023-24 from baseline, showing progress in transport-sector decarbonisation.
  3. HFC and black-carbon cuts: Hydrofluorocarbon emissions are down ~33.6 % below baseline, and black carbon emissions from 2013 baseline are down ~30 %.
  4. Bold targets in law: The Canadian Net‑Zero Emissions Accountability Act legally commits Canada to net-zero emissions by 2050, and to set five-year reduction targets at least ten years in advance.
  5. Stronger mid-term goal: Canada’s 2035 nationally determined contribution (NDC) commits to reducing GHG emissions by 45-50 % below 2005 levels by 2035, up from the previous 2030 target of 40-45 %
  6. Increased climate-resilience access: The number of individuals, businesses and governments accessing federal climate-services tools rose to 252,340 in 2023-24, up from 167,496 in 2021-22.
  7. Economic-and-climate link: The federal government’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan pairs clean-economy growth with climate goals, signalling that climate action and economic development are seen as compatible rather than opposing objectives.
